Arent Fox hires new partner in New York

Arent Fox has hired Jay Deshmukh as a partner in the firm's New York office, where he will focus on patent litigation and counselling, particularly for the generic pharmaceutical industry.

Deshmukh specialises in Hatch-Waxman Act matters, counselling generic drug makers on product launches, as well as defending clients against suits from brand name manufacturers.  He also counsels brand pharma companies on strategies to strengthen IP protection for packaging.  Andre Silfen, New York managing partner, said: “His in-house experience, technical acumen, and litigation talent will provide tremendous value to our generic pharmaceutical clients and further drive our success in high-stakes Hatch-Waxman litigation.”
