Blank Rome hires former surgeon as partner

US law firm Blank Rome has hired Paul Zagar as a partner to its intellectual property group.

Zagar (pictured left), a former surgeon, joins the New York office and concentrates his practice on patent litigation and prosecution.

The sectors he has worked in are medical devices, pharmaceuticals, chemistry, and biotechnology.

Alan Hoffman, the firm’s managing partner, said: “Paul’s first hand medical experience lends him exceptional insights into life science matters during an era of pay-for-delay cases, stricter Food and Drug Administration regulations, and intense competition between products on a global scale.”
