Gowlings expands IP practice in Vancouver

Law firm Gowlings has expanded its intellectual property practice by hiring Stephen Ferance as a partner.

He has experience in patent prosecution and portfolio management and has represented clients in the medical devices industry.

Before joining the firm Ferance (pictured left) was a partner at Canadian-based law firm Smarter & Bigger/ Fetherstonhaugh.

Scott Jolliffe, chief executive of Gowlings, said: “Steve is a highly regarded IP lawyer who takes a practical, hands-on approach to helping clients maximise and protect the value of their patents.”

The move comes after Gowlings announced earlier this month that it would be merging with law firm Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co
