Law firm Akerman adds to IP group

Law firm Akerman has hired Thomas Pasternak in the intellectual property practice group in Chicago.

Pasternak has more than 20 years’ experience in patent litigation, licensing and prosecution.

In addition he has appeared in more than 50 patent cases in federal courts across the US, handling fast discovery, preparation of witnesses and expert reports, cross-examination of technical witnesses and experts, Markman hearings, dispositive notion hearings and trials.

“Tom has exceptional in-house and first-chair trial experience with companies across a broad range of technology sectors, including electrical engineering, chemical products, and medical devices,” said Michael Switzer, chair of Akerman’s IP practice group.

Pasternak is a former vice president and chief patent counsel at RR Donnelley & Sons, which provides print, digital and supply chain solutions, in Chicago.
