Medtronic has filed a motion to stay all deadlines and a notice of settlement in a patent dispute with medical device company Snyder Heart Valve.
The case arose in early March this year when Snyder filed a complaint against St Jude Medical and Medtronic for patent infringement.
The parties notified the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas yesterday that all matters related to the case only involving Medtronic have been resolved.
Both Medtronic and Snyder have requested the district court to stay all deadlines for thirty days, giving them more time to dismiss all claims in the case.
According to the complaint, Medtronic infringed patents belonging to Robert Snyder, a physician who owns the patents-in-suit, by selling infringing products such as CoreValve and CoreValve Evolut, which are artificial heart valves delivery systems.
These products are used to treat a heart condition known as aortic stenosis. The products allow for treatment through artery implantation without the need for open heart surgery.
The patents involved are US numbers 6,540,782 and 6,821,297.
