Law firm Cooley announced yesterday that it is expanding its patent counselling and prosecution practice with the addition of Mika Reiner Mayer’s team from law firm Morrison Foerster.

The team includes Walter Wu (pictured left), a lawyer and licensed medical doctor, who is a partner. The lawyers will be based in Palo Alto, California.

Along with Mayer and Wu, there will be four associates and six patent agents specialising in all areas of the life sciences industry.

Further, the team will bring two medical doctors, three PhD chemists, three advanced-degree bioengineers, two mechanical engineers, one chemical engineer and one PhD neuroscientist.

Wu said: “The entire team is excited about the move to Cooley and is looking forward to continuing to grow and build the practice together.”
