Offit Kurman hires former USPTO examiner

US-based law firm Offit Kurman has boosted its expertise in Virginia with the appointment of Christopher Raimund as a principal in the intellectual property practice.

Raimund was previously a partner at a private practice law firm in Washington, DC.

Before this, he was a patent examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office for more than nine years, serving as a primary patent examiner for the last five years of his tenure.

Raimund has prepared and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications in a variety of technological fields including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, semiconductors, semiconductor processing, software and biotechnology.

He has also worked extensively on patent re-examination proceedings, both ex parte and inter partes, and has been involved in a number of patent interference proceedings.

“Chris adds a true wealth of knowledge and experience to our IP group in Virginia,” said Timothy Lynch, managing partner of Offit Kurman. “He is certain to find a home among our many skilled attorneys in the region.”
