Hogan Lovells hires Hatch-Waxman litigators
The firm's newest life sciences partners are patent litigators in biotech and pharma fields | Duo have secured Hatch-Waxman litigation victories.
Hogan Lovells has added life sciences patent litigators, Howard Levine and Jennifer Swan to its IP team as partners.
The duo joined Hogan Lovells’ global regulatory and IP, media, and technology practice group and the life sciences and healthcare sector
Both make the move from Dechert, and Levine will be based in Hogan Lovells’ Washington, DC office, while Swan will be in the Silicon Valley office.
Levine and Swan recently scored victories at the district court and the Federal Circuit in Hatch-Waxman litigation.

Throughout Levine’s 30-year career, he has advised on complex and high-value biotechnology and pharmaceutical patent litigation cases.
He has been at the forefront of legal developments in this space, including precedent concerning the written description requirement under 35 U.S.C. § 112.
Levine has been lead counsel in district court litigations throughout the country and in appeals before the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Ajay Kuntamukkala, Hogan Lovells' office managing partner for Washington, DC, highlighted Levine’s “strong reputation for representing innovator clients” in the last thirty years.
Swan has experience in enforcing and defending patent rights in biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.
Her expertise includes representing companies in patent litigation, while also assisting life science start-ups with strategic counselling.
She has participated in numerous appellate proceedings in the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and has contributed to recent developments in patent law, including the concept of joint infringement.
