Saxton & Stump adds senior tech counsel

New senior counsel joins IP group from previous roles at a Pittsburgh university, robotics company, and founding own law firm | Experience in patent prosecution in tech for life science sectors.

Saxton & Stump has welcomed patent attorney  Xiaoying "Snow" Zhang to its IP group as senior counsel.

Prior to joining Saxton & Stump, Zhang served as a project IP manager for Pittsburgh-based  Carnegie Mellon University and held an in-house counsel position with  Bossa Nova Robotics.

Additionally, she was previously a licensing manager for a university technology transfer office and founded her own law firm,  Zhang Technology Law, while co-founding an AI solutions company,  Ultron-AI.

Zhang’s patent prosecution spans various tech areas, including life sciences, biopharma, chemistry, chemical engineering, robotics, and AI.

Clients Zhang has worked with include individual inventors, early-stage tech companies, university spinouts, international corporations, and investment firms.

Zhang has experience in prosecution and litigation matters, including patent and trademark, data governance, IP strategy planning, domestic and cross-border technology licensing and acquisition, and investment due diligence support.

James Saxton, chief executive at Saxton & Stump described the IP group as “one of the fastest growing groups in the firm”.

In addition to her role at the firm, Zhang serves as an adjunct professor at the  University of Pittsburgh.
