Potter Clarkson expands IP practice
UK-based law firm Potter Clarkson has expanded its intellectual property practice by hiring Nick McDonald and Richard Roberts as a partners and Oliver Laing as a senior associate.
McDonald joins from Nelsons Solicitors, and Roberts and Laing arrive from Browne Jacobson.
McDonald’s experience includes patents, trademarks and designs, while Roberts’ practice focuses on resolving complex, high value disputes and he has represented clients before the UK Intellectual Property Office.
Laing has experience negotiating and drafting IP licences and commercial agreements.
Potter Clarkson advises its clients in range of specialist sectors including biotechnology, chemistry, engineering and computing.
Building on the firm's existing litigation capabilities, these appointments mean that Potter Clarkson has become one of the largest full-service IP practices in the UK.
Colin Baker, managing partner at the firm, said: “This is a pivotal moment in our 127-year history and enhances our specialist IP offering for clients immeasurably. We already have a great-track record in litigation and the expansion of our offer is the next natural step in the growth of the firm, enabling us to advise on all aspects of IP.”
