Wiggin and Dana adds tech and life sciences litigator to New York office
‘Creative litigation strategist’ will expand firm’s capacity in complex technology areas | New hire joins from LTL Attorneys and spent much of career at Quinn Emanuel.
Full-service law firm Wiggin and Dana has expanded the capacity of its life sciences practice group with the addition of Kate Cassidy as a partner in the firm’s New York office.
Cassidy, who joins from litigation boutique LTL Attorneys and previously spent over a decade at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, focuses her practice on complex technology and IP disputes.
An experienced trial lawyer, she has represented clients ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies, in industries including biotech, software, pharmaceutical, medical device, financial services and retail and consumer goods.
As part of Cassidy’s new role as partner in Wiggin and Dana’s IP litigation practice group, she will bring her expertise to the firm’s antitrust and technology disputes practice group. The firm has grown this department in recent years with the hires of Ben Diessel and Nathan Denning.
She maintains an active pro bono service, which includes representing Advocates for Children, an organisation working to protect the rights of New York children from all backgrounds to a quality education.
Cassidy said: “Wiggin and Dana has the technical knowledge, resources and legal know-how to handle any aspect of intellectual property law—and I’m grateful for the opportunity to join such a well-rounded and skilled team.”
Joe Casino, IP practice group chair, commented: “Kate’s experience litigating high-profile, high stakes cases in cutting-edge technology will expand our team’s capabilities—especially in high-growth industries like biotech.
“Her reputation as a creative litigation strategist precedes her, and I look forward to working alongside her on significant intellectual property disputes.”
