LifeArc signs tech transfer deal with London university

Medical research charity LifeArc has agreed to provide a range of technology transfer services to the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

The charity has dedicated laboratories in Stevenage, UK where around 80 scientists work on antibody and small molecule projects, while the Edinburgh, UK lab focuses on diagnostics development.

Financial details of the agreement, which was announced today, have not been disclosed.

Andrew Farquharson, executive director of technology transfer at LifeArc, said: “LifeArc exists to make a difference for patients, and to achieve this we have to make sure that promising medical research is progressed.”

Professor Peter Piot, director of the London university, added that the world is facing “unprecedented challenges in the form of infectious and chronic conditions, and emerging health threats”.

He explained that the partnership with LifeArc will increase efforts to translate “our research in ways that have a tangible impact”.
