Spruson & Ferguson promotes four to principal
Law firm Spruson & Ferguson has appointed four new principals across the firm as part of its 2020 promotions. The appointments have been made in the firm’s Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney and Melbourne offices.
The four principals include Robert Jackson and Grace Wong Hui, who specialise in chemical and life science patents. Before joining Spruson and Ferguson’s Hong Kong office in 2017, Jackson worked as a synthetic organic chemist before transitioning to the field of IP.
Wong joined the chemical and life sciences team of Spruson & Ferguson in 2013 in Singapore after four years at IP Australia as a patent examiner in the chemical examination unit.
The other principals are Rory Anderson and Scott Philp, who both have expertise in engineering patents and who will practise at the firm’s offices in Melbourne and Sydney, respectively. Anderson joined the firm from FPA Patent Attorneys in Melbourne last year, while Scott joined from Shelston IP in 2018.
Kristian Robinson, Spruson & Ferguson managing director of Asia and director of patents Asia-Pacific, said: “The promotions recognise these individuals as having shown commitment and diligence in their roles and have subsequently reached significant milestones in their careers.”
Tracey Berger, Spruson & Ferguson managing director of Sydney/Melbourne and director of trademarks Asia-Pacific, said: “We value their substantial contribution to the firm and their team through strong practice management, business development, mentoring, training and technical excellence.”
