Foley Hoag adds partner in Boston

Biologics patent attorney aims to strengthen the firm’s global patent networks.

Foley Hoag has welcomed Amy Baker Mandragouras as a new partner in its Boston office.

Mandragouras, a patent attorney specialising in life sciences, has made the move from Cooley where she was a partner.

With more than three decades of expertise in formulating and executing IP strategies, specifically in the biologics realm, Mandragouras moves with a team of colleagues.

The new addition aims to strengthen Foley Hoag’s ability to provide strategic counselling to life sciences companies and strengthen the firm’s global patent networks.

Jeffrey Quillen, partner and chair of the life sciences industry group at Foley Hoag, said: "Amy's inclusion in our team further cements Foley Hoag's prominence in the realm of life sciences IP law.

“Her extensive experience and track record in securing patent protection for cutting-edge biopharmaceuticals will substantially benefit our clientele and augment our prowess in this dynamic arena."

IP partner Hathaway Russell said: “[PTAB Proceedings practice Co-Chair] DeAnn Smith and I previously worked with Amy, and we know first-hand what an exceptional patent attorney and partner she will be at Foley Hoag.

“Amy and her team bring a wealth of patent experience to an already deep bench and we are excited to work with her again.”

Mandragouras has a client portfolio ranging from enterprising startups to pharmaceutical and biotechnology giants.

She is recognised for her ability to assess patent portfolios, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and forging patent strategies for safeguarding innovations and new products.

Mandragouras said: "My team and I are thrilled to integrate with Foley Hoag's esteemed patent group.

“The firm's comprehensive grasp of the life sciences sector and its commitment to nurturing a diverse and inclusive workspace were pivotal factors in our decision to align with this exceptional institution."

Mandragouras is also an advocate for gender diversity within the legal industry.

Throughout her career, she has actively championed the recruitment, training, and mentoring of women in law.

Her role in the Women's Bar Association's inaugural Women's Leadership Initiative Task Force underscores her dedication to enhancing opportunities for women in the legal field.

Before joining Foley Hoag and her role at Cooley, Mandragouras spent close to two decades at the IP boutique firm Lahive & Cockfield, where she broke ground as the first female chair of their executive committee.
