Recruit from DLA Piper brings two decades of patent and technical experience in life sciences, biotechnology, and healthcare industries.

Lathrop GPM has appointed  Lisa Hillman to  the firm’s IP practice group as a partner.

A former patent law counsel at DLA Piper, Hillman brings more than 20 years of IP experience to the firm’s Boston office.

With more than two decades of experience in IP law, Hillman's practice encompasses domestic and foreign patent procurement.

She also provides strategic patent counselling including patent portfolio management, patent validity opinions, infringement opinions, freedom-to-operate opinions, and due diligence reviews.

Hillman has broad technical experience in the areas of molecular biology, microbiology, fermentation technologies, human gene therapy, human and veterinary diagnostics, proteomics, siRNA technologies, antibody technologies, CRISPR technologies, CAR T-cell technologies, liposomes, biosensors, bioinformatics, personalised medicine, tissue scaffolds, agriculture, orthobiologics, medical devices, immunotherapy, pharmaceuticals, and food processing technologies.

She represents small and large biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and diagnostic companies, as well as university clients and startups.

“Lisa is an exceptional addition to our team, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the firm,” said Kate Tompkins, leader of the firm’s IP practice group.

“Her technical and legal expertise will be a strategic advantage for our clients in the life science, biotechnology and healthcare industries.”

“IP and life sciences are critical to our firm's strategic plan. We are committed to expanding these areas,” said Cameron Garrison, managing partner of Lathrop.

“Lisa further strengthens the firm’s capabilities for our IP and patent clients across the country and especially in the Boston and Cambridge areas where there are more than 1,000 biotech companies in Kendall Square and Longwood alone.

“We look forward to continuing to serve these and other clients from our Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis, and Washington, DC offices which house several dozen IP professionals and continue to grow.”

“I am excited to join Lathrop GPM’s distinguished IP team and look forward to helping our clients navigate the ever-changing landscape of intellectual property law,” said Hillman.

“Lathrop GPM’s innovative pricing capabilities and commitment to client service made it the perfect fit for my practice.”
