Bardehle opens Paris life sciences practice with two hires

Munich-based firm Bardehle Pagenberg has established a life sciences practice at its Paris office with two recent hires.

The first of these hires, Lionel Vial, joins the Paris office as partner, bringing 20 years of experience in protecting industrial property assets of laboratories and other life science companies.

His practice involves patent prosecution and litigation across the pharmaceutical and chemistry industries. Prior to joining Bardehle, he founded his own private practice in Paris-Saclay, France in 2014 and has been acting as managing partner at the firm since then.

Julien Fréneaux, managing partner of the Paris office of Bardehle Pagenberg, said: "We are extremely proud that Lionel Vial chose Bardehle Pagenberg for launching a new phase of the development of his practice.”

Joining him is Margaux Esselin—a European patent attorney who has worked with Vial for five years. Esselin specialises in chemistry and handles prior art searches, patentability and patent application and opposition procedures.

Fréneaux adds: “Lionel Vial and Margaux Esselin complete and strengthen our patent department in Paris which now comprises professionals covering life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and chemistry in addition to mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and telecommunications.”
