Carpmaels adds two pharma lawyers to partnership

Carpmaels & Ransford has added two life sciences lawyers to its partnership, effective from July 1.

Harvey Adams, who joins the firm from Mathys & Squire, has advocated in proceedings before the European Patent Office. His practice focuses on biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, and he has experience in defending branded drugs.

In addition, Adams has assisted clients with regulatory data protection, orphan drug designations, clinical trial exemptions, and patent term extension (PTE).

Also joining the firm’s partnership is Matthew Georgiou, who first joined Carpmaels in 2009 and has been promoted from senior associate. Georgiou’s practice centres on the pharmaceutical and chemistry sectors, and he has experience in handling complex multi-party opposition proceedings.

Georgiou also advises clients on PTE strategies and regulatory exclusivity in relation to medicinal products in Europe.

Both Adams and Georgiou will be based in the firm’s London office.

Richard Jackson, managing partner at Carpmaels, said Adams has a “truly exceptional reputation in the life sciences and chemistry fields” and that Georgiou has “developed an impressive practice” in the same areas.
