DLA Piper adds two Hogan Lovells IP litigators in New York
DLA Piper has added two partners from Hogan Lovells to its IP and technology practice in New York.
Michael Dougherty and Tony Pezzano focus their practice on patent litigation in the life sciences. Both new partners have represented pharmaceutical companies in lawsuits against generic drug companies under the Hatch-Waxman Act.
Dougherty has a background in biology, and has extensive experience in dealing with Abbreviated New Drug Applications. He has conducted due diligence investigations, managed IP portfolios, and handled investigations at the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
Meanwhile, Pezzano’s practice centres on litigating cases in the federal district courts and at the ITC. He has expertise in matters involving pharmaceutical products, chemicals, wireless telecommunications, and computer software.
Frank Ryan, global co-chair of the firm’s IP and technology practice, said: “Michael and Tony bring decades of experience in life sciences litigation, particularly in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology arenas.”
He added: “They are exceptionally talented lawyers with a proven record of success at trial, and their unique skill set will strengthen our practice significantly.”
