DLA Piper hires Arnold & Porter counsel
DLA Piper has strengthened its San Francisco office with the addition of a former Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer counsel.
Soumitra Deka joins the patent litigation subgroup of DLA Piper’s IP and technology practice as a partner.
He has experience in fields including pharmaceuticals, biotech, medical devices, software and telecoms, and semiconductors.
Mark Fowler, global co-chair and US chair of the patent litigation practice, said Deka is an experienced patent litigator who is “well-respected within the pharmaceutical and broader life sciences industries”.
Deka is also a registered patent attorney and regularly represents clients in inter partes review proceedings.
Stephen Cowan, managing partner of DLA Piper’s San Francisco office, said that Deka’s wide-ranging experience makes him a “key asset” for the firm’s growing team of life sciences practitioners in Northern California.
