Eli Lilly wins mammoth cybersquatting case

Eli Lilly has won a cybersquatting case in which the company successfully ordered the transfer of more than 200 domain names that purported to offer discounted erectile dysfunction drugs.

The decision, published on August 14, centred on domains that infringed its trademark for the Cialis (tadalafil) drug, used to treat erectile dysfunction and symptoms of benign prostatic hypertrophy.

Examples of the offending domains included: online-candacialis.org, cialis-discountonline.org and order-genericcialis.net.

The complaint, which claimed the domains had been registered in bad faith, was filed at the Alternative Dispute Resolution Forum, formerly the National Arbitration Forum.

The respo ndent, named as Cruz Alan, did not respond to the allegations.
