Foley & Lardner hires new partner in New York

Law firm Foley & Lardner has hired a new partner, Karen Mangasarian, to join its New York office.

Mangasarian will become part of the firm’s chemical, biotechnology and pharmaceutical practice.

She regularly counsels life sciences clients including those in small molecule pharmaceuticals, biologics, microbiology, and other sectors.

Kristel Schorr, chair of the firm’s chemical, biotechnology and pharmaceutical practice, said: “Karen’s extensive experience handling a variety of intellectual property matters for clients in the life sciences space, paired with her deep background in pharmacology and biochemistry, aligns well with our focus on helping clients maximise the value of, and protect, their technology.”

Mangasarian has experience providing patent counselling services, including obtaining international and domestic patent rights, creating competitive patent strategies, strategic planning, licensing and product lifecycle management.

She also has experience with post-grant procedures, such as interferences, reexaminations, oppositions and litigation.

Before joining Foley, Mangasarian was a partner at Ropes & Gray.
