Former FTC official heads to Edwards Wildman

Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP has hired Edward Glynn, a former senior official at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Glynn, a partner in the firm’s IP department in Washington, DC, represents consumer products, pharmaceutical supplements, and advertising and marketing companies in regulatory matters, government investigations and litigation.

“With his extensive background in regulatory agencies and in private practice, Ed will be in a strong position to leverage our platform and grow his practice internationally, including in cutting-edge areas such as consumer direct marketing,” said Jamie Armstrong, partner-in-charge of Edwards Wildman’s Washington, DC office.

Before joining Edwards Wildman, Glynn was a partner at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP. He spent 14 years at the FTC before that, leading the FTC’s regulatory oversight of cross-border mergers and acquisitions.

Joining Glynn at Edwards Wildman is Bryan Zerhusen, a partner in the firm’s Hartford office. He focuses on preparing, prosecuting and counselling patents for companies in the healthcare, chemical and life sciences industries.

Zerhusen specialises in all areas of molecular biology, biochemistry and biotechnology. His clients include start-up companies and academic institutions, as well as global corporations in industries such as diagnostics, pharmaceuticals and medical sciences. An inventor, Zerhusen holds several patents directed to biopharmaceutical inventions.

Scott Wofsy, co-chair of Edwards Wildman’s IP department, welcomed Zerhusen’s appointment.

“He is at the forefront of cutting-edge medical research, and his extensive experience in patent counselling will be a tremendous asset to our life sciences, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical clients.”

Previously, Zerhusen was a partner at law firm McCarter & English.
