Herbert Smith Freehills has announced that patent litigator Frédéric Chevallier will join the firm as a partner.

Based in the firm’s Paris office, Chevallier’s work will include cross-border patent litigation and assisting clients with regulatory work in the pharmaceutical field. He has worked for many companies in the life sciences industry over the years and has managed a range of high-value patent cases.

Chevallier originally worked as a junior associate at Herbert Smith Freehills before joining Allen & Overy’s patent litigation team in 2009.

Mark Shillito, global head of IP at the firm, said he is “delighted” to welcome Chevallier back to the firm and that his arrival will “further boost our pan-European patent disputes capabilities”.

Chevallier said: "I am delighted to re-join Herbert Smith Freehills to help develop a leading patent practice in Paris, in collaboration with the outstanding patent litigation practice in London, the fantastic current IP practice in Paris, as well as the globally renowned disputes group."
