Hogan Lovells hires two new partners
Hogan Lovells has boosted its IP, media and technology practice (IPMT) with the addition of two life sciences specialists from McDermott Will & Emery.
Both Robert Underwood and Kristin Connarn join as partners in the firm’s Boston office.
Connarn has assisted both start-ups and multi-nationals in strategic planning and patent prosecution. Her expertise includes prior art analysis, patent licensing, and the development of in-house IP strategies. She previously served as a research associate at AstraZeneca.
Underwood’s practice covers areas including patent portfolio development, patent licensing, and due diligence. He has represented clients in the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, and medical devices sectors.
He has served as IP counsel on multinational mergers and acquisitions, and worked on product lines including vaccines, cell therapies, regenerative medicines, and treatments in the field of immuno-oncology.
Asher Rubin, global head of the firm’s life sciences and health care industry group, said that "Bob and Kristin’s experience will give us the capability to provide sophisticated IP counselling, diligence and other deal support services on the ground and expand our capabilities in the life sciences industry, especially in the area of corporate transactions”.
Connarn and Underwood had both served as partners at McDermott Will & Emery since 2008.
The appointments come as Hogan Lovells also announced a further expansion of its IPMT practice with the addition of two new partners in the firm’s San Francisco office.
