Hoyng Rokh Monegier selects Benoît Strowel as managing partner

European IP boutique firm Hoyng Rokh Monegier has announced that Benoît Strowel will succeed Willem Hoyng as managing partner.

Strowel, who is qualified to practise law in Belgium, France, and England and Wales, works from the firm’s Brussels and Paris offices. Most of his work is cross-border, and Strowel has experience coordinating multi-jurisdictional patent litigation in Europe.

With a background in biochemistry and molecular biology, a large proportion of Strowel’s clients are in healthcare, biotech, medical devices and the pharmaceutical fields, and he has advised large bio-pharmaceutical companies on regulatory issues. Clients have included Pfizer, GSK and AstraZeneca.

Strowel has also assisted companies trying to protect their IP rights in mechanical and military inventions.

Hoyng commented: “Together with my partners, I have spent the past years creating a unique European IP boutique firm. I think the time has come to hand over the reins.”

Of his promotion, Strowel said: “It will be a challenge to fill Willem’s shoes, but I am grateful and honoured to have been chosen by my fellow partners to continue developing the firm’s European presence and consolidating our top-tier position in intellectual property and pharmaceutical regulatory law.”
