Life sciences partners join Saul Ewing’s Boston office

Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr has strengthened its Boston office with the addition of two life sciences partners from Hamilton, Brook, Smith & Reynolds.

Scott Pierce, who joins the firm after 29 years at Hamilton, is a patent lawyer specialising in chemistry, biotechnology, and software engineering. His work has covered products relating to medical imaging, drug design, robotic prosthetics, lithium ion batteries, and the internet of things.

Also joining the firm is Mary Murray, who specialises in patent matters related to biophysics, cell development, genetic engineering, immunology vaccines, and pharmacology. She has represented clients who develop and manufacture a range of medical devices, treatments, and tools.

In addition, they advise clients on patent prosecution strategy.

Both Pierce and Murray are admitted to practise at the US Patent and Trademark Office, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the US Supreme Court.

George Magnatta, chair of the firm’s business and finance department, said: “Scott and Mary are strong additions to our IP and life sciences practices. Because of the depth and breadth of their experience, we anticipate they will serve our clients in a wide range of industries, particularly life sciences and pharmaceuticals.”
