Orrick expands IP team

Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP (Orrick) has expanded its IP group and hired Grace Pan as partner.

Pan (pictured), who joins the New York office, focuses on patent, trademark and copyright litigation with a particular strength in the semiconductor, chemistry, biotechnology, electronic and mechanical fields.

Prior to joining Orrick Pan was a partner with Kaye Scholer LLP in its New York office.

Describing Pan as a “rare find”, Steve Routh, co-head of Orrick’s IP group, said a combination of “extensive IP law experience, technical expertise, and fluency in Japanese, Mandarin Chinese and English” make her “uniquely valuable … on a broad range of IP matters.”

In addition to enforcing and defending clients’ IP rights in US Courts, Pan defends foreign patents in Taiwan and Japan and has argued before the Japan Patent Office, the Tokyo High Court, the Taiwan Taipei District Court and the Beijing High People’s Court.

Pan is admitted to practice before the USPTO and is a registered Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi (attorney at foreign law) in Japan.

"Orrick has everything I need to grow my practice - stellar IP litigators, a solid international platform, particularly in Asia, and a great reputation for achieved successful outcomes in complex, high-stakes and high-profile litigation,” Pan said.

Orrick’s IP group represents companies in patent, trademark, copyright, trade secrets, unfair competition and Internet liability disputes.

Pan is the third addition to the group this year.

In March, David Case joined Orrick's Tokyo office from White & Case LLP and, in August, Nick Setty was hired at the San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices transferring from Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP.

Orrick is a global law firm with offices across the US, Asia and Europe.
