Simmons & Simmons hires new IP team in Milan

International law firm Simmons & Simmons has hired a new IP team to boost its office in Milan.

Stefania Bergia and Giulio Sironi joined as partners on September 1, both from Vanzetti e Associati.

Sironi and Bergia were employed as part of the firm’s strategy to boost its life sciences sector focus.

Bergia brings experience in all aspects of IP including patents, trademarks and domain names, industrial designs, copyright, unfair competition and trade secrets.

Sironi has taught a number of courses on patent legislation at the University of Parma, and also has a long record of handling judicial and extra-judicial cases in all IP-related sectors.

They will be joined by Anna Colmano, also from Vanzetti e Associati, who is an associate.

Andrea Accornero, partner and country head of the firm, said she is “delighted” to welcome the new lawyers.

“They are well-respected IP lawyers and highly rated in the Italian market,” she said.

“Their expertise offers a world-class service for our clients and excellent sector focus on healthcare and life sciences.”
