FDA appoints Ostroff as deputy commissioner

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has appointed Stephen Ostroff to deputy commissioner for food and veterinary medicine.

The FDA released a statement on Tuesday, March 8 outlining that the current deputy commissioner, Michael Taylor, is leaving the agency on June 1.

Ostroff, who had been working as acting commissioner at the organisation until Robert Califf’s recent appointment, will be stepping into the new role.

He has experience in leading and co-ordinating scientific and public health efforts at the FDA.

Taylor and Ostroff will work closely together to maintain a smooth transition.
