Bart Newland

Bart Newland provides independent IP strategy and general legal consulting services to life sciences companies.

With four decades of experience spanning outside counsel, chief IP counsel, and general counsel roles, he advises organisations of all sizes on developing and executing effective IP strategies.

Newland has experience helping companies align IP strategy with business objectives, communicating with senior leadership, boards of directors, and investors.

He frequently works with early-stage and startup companies, supporting them in preparing for diligence processes related to fundraising, strategic collaborations, and public offerings by identifying and addressing potential IP gaps.

Previously, Newland served as general counsel at Atalanta Therapeutics and as senior vice president and chief IP counsel at Biogen.

He also held senior IP leadership roles at Genzyme and practiced as a partner at Rothwell, Figg, Ernst & Manbeck.
