George Xixis

George Xixis is associate vice chancellor for Transactions at UMass Chan Medical School, where he leads teams responsible for IP management and the structuring and negotiation of collaboration, licensing, and sponsored research agreements.

With a career spanning academia, industry, and private practice, Xixis has experience in IP strategy, technology transfer, mergers and acquisitions, and life sciences transactions.

He has advised startups, academic institutions, investors, and multinational companies on IP portfolio development, licensing, and commercialisation strategies, and has structured and negotiated numerous high-value biotech and pharmaceutical deals.

Prior to his current role, Xixis held senior legal and leadership positions at organisations including Abpro, Decibel Therapeutics, and AbbVie, and practiced as counsel and partner at White and Williams and Nutter McClennen & Fish. His work has covered a broad range of technologies, including biologics, gene therapy, small molecules, and medical devices.
