Miles & Stockbridge welcomes eight IP professionals

US law firm Miles & Stockbridge PC has continued the expansion of its IP practice with the addition of seven lawyers and one patent agent.

The firm will welcome Susan McBee, Chester Moore and David Woodward as principals, Richard Henderson as  of counsel, Bryan Jones and David Vanik as counsels and Shazi Jiang as associate on August 26. The seven lawyers previously worked in Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC’s Washington, DC office.

Patent agent William Stauffer will also join the team.

“This group is a tremendous addition to our growing IP practice, particularly in matters related to the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and chemistry fields,” said Miles & Stockbridge chief executive John Frisch.

“Not only are the lawyers experienced in the full spectrum of patent representation, they also deepen our post-grant team and our work involving the new proceedings introduced under the America Invents Act.”

The group hire is another wave of expansion at the firm, bringing the total number of IP lawyers added this year to 13.

McBee, the previous chair of Baker Donelson’s life sciences IP team in Washington, DC, said  the group was looking forward to being part of the team.

McBee was once a patent examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office, and has more than 25 years’ of patent and trademark management experience. During her career she has represented companies in the chemical, biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields.

Miles & Stockbridge has eight offices in the mid-Atlantic region of the US. Its IP and technology group is now made of 22 registered patent lawyers.
