Robins Kaplan promotes five IP lawyers

Litigation-focused firm Robins Kaplan has promoted nine lawyers so far in 2018, including five IP lawyers in its Silicon Valley, Minneapolis, and Boston offices.

Of the five IP promotions, Patrick Arenz and Sharon Roberg-Perez have been promoted to partnership, and Christine Yun Sauer, Bryan Mechell, and Jamie Kurtz have been elected as principals.

Arenz, based in Minneapolis, is a trial and litigation lawyer specialising in patents. He advises on matters such as patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation.

Roberg-Perez works in Minneapolis and Boston. She has a background in molecular biology and focuses her practice on biotechnology and medical device patent litigation and licensing.

Based in Silicon Valley, Yun Sauer focuses on IP litigation and patent office trials. She represents individual inventors and Fortune 500 companies in the technology and healthcare industries.

Mechell, who works in Minneapolis, is a trial lawyer with experience in complex patent litigation. Mechell’s background in quantum physics and computer science assists his work in advising clients on how to protect their IP when developing new technologies.

Kurtz is also based in Minneapolis. She has a background in pharmacology and advises clients on healthcare technologies such as pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

Martin Lueck, chairman of the firm’s executive board, said: “Our newest partners and principals have consistently demonstrated their trial skills, leadership, talent, and commitment to extraordinary client service.

“It gives us great pleasure to recognise the hard work and dedication of this diverse group of accomplished litigators, who will continue to contribute to the success of our clients, firm, and the communities we serve,” Lueck continued.
