McDermott Will & Emery boosts IP practice in Germany

Law firm McDermott Will & Emery has appointed Henrik Holzapfel as a partner in its Düsseldorf, Germany office.

Holzapfel is the first intellectual property partner to work in the Düsseldorf office.

He counsels clients on all aspects of intellectual property law, and has experience in litigating patents and providing strategic advice.

Holzapfel’s clients span a variety of industries such as pharmaceutical, biotech, medicinal products, chemicals, automotive, engineering and IT.

Sarah Chapin Columbia, global head of McDermott’s IP practice, said: “Germany is an important and exciting market for IP.

“With the impending introduction of the Unified Patent Court in Europe, patent litigation will become even more complex but it will also bring new market opportunities to our clients. Henrik’s arrival will further strengthen our thriving European IP litigation team, positioning us as an advisor of choice in this dynamically changing practice area.”
