Linklaters hires partner to ‘meet growing client demand’
New addition brings multi-jurisdiction experience in life sciences and healthcare industries | Significant growth in patent litigation due to complex life sciences disputes and telecom and technology litigation.
Linklaters has added Katie Coltart as partner to its IP team.
Coltart makes the move from Kirkland & Ellis where she has been a partner since 2018, having previously worked at Allen & Overy.
She has experience in cross-border IP litigation in a range of different sectors including healthcare and life sciences, telecoms and technology.
Commenting on the appointment, Julia Schönbohm, partner and global head of TMT/IP at Linklaters, explained that the recent growth in patent litigation was due to the complex nature of life sciences disputes, and the increase in the number of telecom and technology litigation cases.
“With Katie’s impressive experience in complex, multi-jurisdictional IP disputes, her expertise complements the growth of our IP litigation capabilities and meets growing client demand,” said Schönbohm.
Coltart said: “The strength of the firm’s global platform is a very attractive draw as clients look for solutions to increasingly complex, multi-jurisdictional disputes.
“Linklaters has a fantastic client base and strong track record for patent disputes, and I am looking forward to joining the team and building on that success,” she added.
