Baker & McKenzie welcomes pharma lawyer

Law firm Baker & McKenzie has hired pharmaceutical lawyer Julian Thurston as a consultant in its global pharmaceutical and healthcare industry group.

Thurston arrives from from Morrison & Foerster LLP, where he was a consultant and (previously) a partner specialising in commercial life sciences transactions.

He focuses on strategic joint ventures, licensing and collaborations with a particular emphasis on markets in China, Latin America and Russia.

Jane Hobson, chair of Baker & McKenzie's global pharmaceutical and healthcare industry group, said Thurston’s expertise in licensing and high growth markets will “significantly” boost the firm’s pharma practice.

“With his arrival, we will be able to enhance our offering to our pharmaceutical and healthcare clients and demonstrate our ambition to become counsel of choice for transactional and licensing work," she said.

Baker & McKenzie's global pharmaceutical and healthcare industry group comprises more than 450 lawyers and other legal professionals who serve pharma, biotech, medical device and healthcare companies across a variety of areas, including IP, antitrust, and mergers and acquisitions.
