DowDuPont names three new divisions

DowDuPont, a specialist in agriculture, materials science and speciality products, has revealed the names of three independent companies that it intends on creating.

Announced on Monday, February 26, the names of the new companies reflect DowDuPont’s ongoing progress towards separation.

The three new divisions will be Corteva Agriscience (agriculture); Dow (materials science); and DuPont (speciality products).

Although certain products will be changed following the separation, many products will continue to be sold under current brand names.

“Our selection of these company names is a major milestone in the process of creating three, strong independent companies, and each name reflects the unique strengths and value proposition of the company it will represent,” commented Ed Breen, CEO of DowDuPont.

“As we move forward, a critical part of our work will be to build and strengthen the global corporate brands that express the commitment we are making to our customers, employees, investors, and all of our stakeholders, to grow value through innovation.”

DowDuPont is currently made up of the separate US-based companies Dow and DuPont. In 2015 it was announced that the companies would join forces to form the three independent trading companies.

Andrew Liveris, executive chairman of DowDuPont, explained that the announcement demonstrated the “unprecedented value creation potential” of the transaction.

He added: “We are squarely focused on unlocking enhanced cost and growth synergies, delivering on our growth investments and innovation pipeline, and separating into three industry-leading companies on the accelerated timelines we recently announced.”
