Hells Angels raid unearths counterfeit drugs

Police in Canada have seized thousands of counterfeit drugs as part of an operation that targeted gangs including the Hells Angels.

Fake Oxycontin drugs were among the products taken during the sting, which took place in the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta. Around 3,358 Fentanyl pills were also found by police.

The investigation, which began in November 2013, targeted two gangs, the Hells Angels and the Fallen Saints. Raids were carried out across the two provinces last Wednesday (January 14), with the results revealed by police at a news conference the following day.

According to police, 14 people are facing multiple charges after the raids, which targeted a club house belonging to the Hells Angels, as well as several private homes.

There have been several developments in recent weeks concerning counterfeit drugs, particularly those online.

Last week, LSIPR revealed that UK regulatory body the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency had successfully taken down more than 1,600 websites, some of which were selling fake drugs.
