Sheppard Mullin hires life sciences specialist in corporate group

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton has hired Kandace Watson, a lawyer with experience representing companies in complex transactions in IP-intensive industries.

Watson has joined the firm’s San Diego office as a partner in the corporate practice group.

She has represented companies in the biomedical, biotechnology, chemical, healthcare, pharmaceutical, software and technology industries.

Her expertise includes complex commercial transactions, development and commercialisation agreements, IP licences, joint ventures, and supply, manufacturing and distribution agreements.

Watson joins from Kilpatrick Townsend, where she led the mergers, acquisitions, securities and corporate team in southern California. She also managed the corporate department’s chemical and life sciences, and medical devices teams in the region.

Jon Newby, vice chairman of Sheppard Mullin, said: “We enthusiastically welcome her to the firm. Kandace brings substantial corporate and IP licensing expertise, along with an energy and client-driven focus that fits well with us, in San Diego and firmwide.”

Watson added: “The firm’s entrepreneurial culture, coupled with its strong corporate group and broad practice mix, will greatly enhance the value added services that I deliver to clients.”
