Schiff Hardin counsel joins private equity firm
Cindy Ahn, a former counsel at Schiff Hardin, has joined private equity firm Longford Capital to help handle demand for litigation finance among life sciences and biotech firms.
Ahn, who joins the firm as a director, will assist with investment sourcing, due diligence and the monitoring of portfolio investments.
She served as counsel for Schiff Hardin for two and a half years, and has also been a partner at Kirkland & Ellis.
Ahn also worked as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Third Wave Technologies, a molecular diagnostics company.
According to a release from Longford, Ahn has assisted companies with the licensing, sale and enforcement of IP rights across a range of industries, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and biosimilars.
Michael Nicolas, co-founder and managing director of Longford Capital, said: “We previously worked with Cindy as outside counsel to help evaluate several investment opportunities.”
He added: “Cindy is a seasoned patent lawyer with decades of experience. Her background in biology and pharmaceutical patents enables her to communicate effectively with technical personnel, including doctors, chemists, scientists, inventors and expert witnesses.”
